Colegio Teresiano de Barcelona. In 1889, Enric d’Ossó commissioned Antoni Gaudí to complete the Teresian College in Sant Gervasi de Cassoles, now part of Barcelona. Intended as a boarding school and headquarters for the Teresian Congregation, the project came with a tight budget reflecting the nuns' vow of poverty. Despite this, Gaudí infused the building with symbolic elements and creative architectural solutions.
The structure has a rectangular layout with a ground floor, three additional floors, and an accessible roof. Gaudí combined stone and brickwork on the façades, breaking the window
pattern with central features like the main portico. The building's medieval-inspired design is seen in the crenelated façade, corner towers, and Mudejar latticework.
Inside, Gaudí used catenary arches, creating a striking play of light and shadow. The arches are particularly impressive on the first floor, where they run uninterrupted down the corridor, showcasing Gaudí's mastery of natural light. Though lesser known, the Teresian College is a testament to Gaudí's ingenuity, even with limited resources.
