Perched high within a Dubai skyscraper, Dragonfly by Yodezeen is a bold interpretation of an Eastern temple fused with hyper-modern elements. The client’s vision for a unique Asian restaurant that blends authenticity with contemporary flair comes to life in this striking interior. The restaurant's design transcends the conventional, blending wooden columns and intricately carved roofs with sleek, modern materials. The two-level space, complete with a mezzanine, a grand staircase, and a central 360-degree bar, echoes the restaurant's namesake. The dragonfly theme is evident in the swarm of handmade leather dragonflies suspended above the entrance, the centerpiece red glass bar, and the towering dragonfly sculpture hovering with a wingspan of nine meters.
Incorporating traditional Asian aesthetics, Dragonfly boasts wooden elements sourced from Italy, bamboo blinds, woven rattan screens, and genuine Japanese vases with Eastern floral compositions. The restaurant balances bold design choices with restraint, creating a space that is both awe-inspiring and inviting. With elements like granite-based columns and dragon-carved wooden features, Dragonfly offers a dining experience that feels both grounded and elevated, paying homage to its cultural inspirations while establishing a contemporary icon in the heart of Dubai.
